This was my first vacuum sealer and first FoodSaver product. It seemed good and easy to use...until it stopped vacuuming and the door jammed after I'd had to for two months. I'd only used it about once or twice a week during that time period and followed the instructions each time, so I know it wasn't from repetitive use or incorrect usage.
To have it replaced through the warranty, I will have to pay for the shipping (which is about $20 via UPS) and wait for a month to have it replaced. Meanwhile, the food I'd been planning to seal with it will spoil.

I received this foodsaver for Christmas 2011. As previews reviews stated, the door also jammed on mine, and completely broke. I called company and they immediately sent a new one. Well, almost a year later, it did the exact same thing. Called the company and they are sending another one, only this time a different model. This one never seemed to seal that great either. But I did use a lot and love using it to seal chip bags, veggie bags, etc. This company has wonderful customer service, and just because this model isn't that great and kept breaking, it says a lot for their customer service and it will keep me buying their products!

Between my wife and daughter we have had 3 Foodsavers. This one belongs to my daughter. As the previous reviewer indicated, the unit will hang up and not recover. This typically happens if the handle is pressed down before the load cycle finishes. My son-in-law has done this several times. The only solution is to open the unit, remove the limit switches to fool the control and let it complete it's cycle. Another time the spring holding the vacum release valve failed and I had to replace it. This time, I could not make it recover. The vacuum pump runs constantly, the switch lights will not come on, and no matter what I do to reposition the lock-down mechanism, it will not recover.
We like the result when the product works and may buy a replacement, but NOT this model.

After a lot of deliberation-I purchased this product and so far - could not be happier. I have only had it for 4 months but find it easy to use and works great.
