I already had the wide mouth sealer and never had one problem sealing jars. However, it has been a different story with the regular size. I get very aggravated trying to use it. I have changed jars, used new lids (instead of re-using old ones) and still have problems. I have had less trouble using 2 lids, but it still gives me problems sometimes. I was also told to put the lids in boiling water (taking the pot off the burner when the water boils) and letting them soak. This also seems to help but I can't count on getting the job done every time. I never had one minute of trouble with the wide mouth one so can't understand why I have a problem with this one.

I cannot live without these jar sealers. Refrigerated items are good up to 3 weeks, dry foods seem like forever. We purchase in bulk at the warehouse stores and use our Food Saver for everything we can. Get the large sour cream, shredded cheeses, grated cheeses, soups, etc. and I fill the size jar I want and good for weeks. Where as you by that large sour cream and once you open mold seems to be growing in a week. Not when you jar it up in smaller portions. I use all sizes of the Ball Mason jars. I also use for nuts, rice, bacon pieces, tea bags, coffee, dried fruit, herbs, spices, mayo, I could go on and on and on. Basically I am a Food Saver geek!

We inherited an older model Food Saver that included the wide mouth jar sealer and have used it for years. I stored a wide variety of dehydrated fruits and vegetables in wide mouth glass jars 14 years ago and just opened a few recently and found them to still smell and taste fine. Although such long storage is uncommon, it does illustrate how well the vacuum holds up in canning jars. Jar storage is easy to use and once emptied the jars are easily washed and reusable. I am ordering a regular size jar sealer to augment my sealer capabilities. The old wide mouth jar sealer works fine on my new model Food Saver.

I got the large mouth and regular size jar sealers, and was so happy! The large mouth works like a dream, but I was only ONCE able to get a seal with the regular size jar sealer, and I tried and tried and tried, no go. It simply refuses to seal. I thought it was perhaps me or it was defective, but reading the other reviews find it has also been the case with some other people. I will try using two lids at a time as someone suggested.....so we will see. Otherwise, I love Food Saver, the machine works perfectly well and it is from 2007, the large mouth jar seal works wonderfully, but not so the regular size, I wonder what the problem is?

The wide mouth jar sealer works exceptionally well. However, the regular mouth jar sealer is not so good. I have found that if I put two lids on the jar and vacuum it it works almost every time. The extra lid will come off and the one next to the jar is sealed.

I love the concept of this lid and bought several different sizes of Ball and Mason jars and was excited at the prospect of having a very inexpensive way to seal food without having to purchase the more expensive vacuum sealing containers from Foodsaver. The only issue is that it take between 2-3 times to vacuum seal the jars until they take. It is a very finicky thing. I know they have had these sealing/canning lids for years and I was excited to start working with them but they do take a liittle monkeying around to make the seal catch. In the absence of having another alternative to this, i would recommend this but be aware that it is not as easy as 1-2-3 and may take a couple trys.

I was so super excited to get this because I have so many canning jars. Easy to use. Great seal. I believe this will save me loads of money sealing items in jars to keep them fresh. I had another brand of vacuum sealer before but it was awkward to use & the heat seal finally gave up, and it didn't have the jar sealing accessory. I have been vacuum sealing like a mad woman since getting the new machine & the jar sealer. I'm getting ready to order the wide mouth jar sealer as soon as possible.

Love the sealers, however, like quite a few other users, the wide mouth works flawlessly but the regular mouth is finicky. We have found if you take a thumb tack and poke a hole in the center of a lid and then use it with the lid that is sealing the jar, it works about 95% of the time on the first try. We keep our lid with the hole right with the sealer and have used the same lid for over a year. We use our jar lids over and over with this method with a minimum of fuss.

i use this attachement everyday. I make a lot of fresh carrot juice for treating cancer with Gerson Therapy and it's very important to me to prevent oxydation of my juices and this jar sealer deffinitelly does this job. Without this attachement my healing wouldn't be possible.

I purchased regular size mouth canning jars with lids specifically for sealing dry foods such as cereal, nuts, and the smaller jars for things like raisins, dried beans, and rice. I also wondered if I could actually seal jars of water to keep for emergencies and it did seal those jars. Since I'm not going through the heat canning process I can reuse these seals until they won't seal anymore.

My wife bought the wide mouth and regular jar sealers. The wide mouth works great. The regular mouth is AWEFUL! We have only gotten two of the regular mouth jars to seal. It acts like it is drawing a vacuum but the lid comes off easily when removing the sealer. We have tried several brands of jars with very low success. It is not popping the lid off, the lid just isn't sealed at all. Overall, the design looks nice, it was affordable, and it's easy to maintain. However none of that matters since it doesn't work.

I've used the "wide mouth" sealer that came w/ my original unit for many years, but have wanted one for the "regular" sized lids. I didn't realize that size was made until I recently checked the web-site. It came quickly and I started using it the next day. It works very well, just like the larger unit. Thanks for having both sizes available!

The Jar Sealer works just as described on regular mouth canning jars AND just about all standard product jars that you buy at the grocery store. I purchased extra Ball Jar lids and have found that they fit just about all the glass jars of name brand sauces, peanut butter in glass, etc.... I buy large volume spaghetti sauce but only use 1/3 at a time. Now there is no loss & no extra freezing containers needed. This has saved money for food loss and grocery runs.

I have used the wide mouth jar sealer with no problems.
It's great! I ordered the regular jar sealer thinking it would be as good. It has not sealed any regular jar Ihave tried. It is a big disappointment.Who would go to all the trouble to return a small priced item? Do not buy this item it is worthless!!!

This is such a great little gadget for sealing my mason jars for Salad in a Jar. I also used it to seal glazed walnuts for salads, and for keeping my burghul (cracked wheat) fresh. A great value for the money. I will be purchasing the one for the larger wide-mouth mason jars too.

The lids would not seal properly and would realese the vacuum.. I put a small amount of cooking oil (Olive oil) around the rim of the jar and now it seals and holds seal. works great.

We have the sealer for the wide mouth jars and have never had a single problem with it. Ordered the regular jar sealer and finally tonight got around to using it. It does not work. One jar sealed after half a dozen tries. The others we gave up on. The lid comes right off with the sealer lid. And the rubber seal has to be put back in quite frequently. Looking at the two sealers, the regular mouth sealer has a different seal configuration than the wide mouth jar sealer. Wonder if that is the problem. Guess I could try what one lady suggested - use two lids to get it to seal. Otherwise its going back for either a replacement or a refund as it does not work as it should. The wide mouth one never fails to seal the first time. I do not know if the one I have is defective or if it is a design flaw.

I ordered this for my long term food storage. Anything that does not require refrigeration can be vacuum sealed either in jars or bags. With this jar sealer I can now preserve things in jars that are not suitable for bags. The product is well made and seals well.

We regularly purchase locally grown produce and the jar sealers are a great way to keep it fresh until we are ready to use. Fresh cut lettuce keeps up to 2 weeks and sometimes longer. I highly recommend this accessory for your food saver.
