This is my 2nd foodsaver. The V3835 was the replacement sent by foodsaver. I had the 3840 or 50 model which was much easier to operate. My gripe with this model is I have difficulty just sealing. I don't always need or want vaccum, I just need to seal. Because of the sensor feature; I find I 'm using more bags, thus I'm wasting more of my bags than needed. If you don't have enough of the bag in sensor it will not seal. The 3840/50 models you can choose to seal, or vaccum & seal. Please note: you can not seal small amounts without using a large amount of bag. I like to portion ingredients for recipes and freeze them but I'm wasting so much of the bag, it's not really worth doing. For me the bottom line is you have to purchase more bags because you waste more of the bag.
Also the function strip needs to be a lighter color to see the buttons easily or the buttons a lighter color to view functions. I'm disappointed with this model.

Have had this product 3 or 4 years, and I have not found anything bad about it yet. Would recommend it to ANYONE! This sealer even has a button in case you are sealing moist or dry food, wonderfully thought out. You can use a number of different types of containers with it, it is very versiital. If and when it breaks I will replace it with another just like it.
This manufacturer has several items on the market that are made as well and are as helpfull to busy families.

we enjoy the foodsaver was disappointed in the add that i ordered from there was suppose to be a free extra part which we did not get. we are still trying to decide what size rolls and bags to use its a learning process . my daughter wanted this model because it didn' crush chips and muffins.

Have used this for over one year and still very impressed with it. Savings has been huge. They only way to make this thing better is to have cheaper bags. Not complaining about the price, I only buy when its a BOGO type deal and that makes it alot better.

This is a fantastic addition to my kitchen. I do a lot of cooking ahead of to time and would end up tossing some because of freezer taste but not any more. If fact I have had to toss nothing from either the refrigerator or freezer. I can keep mushrooms for up to a month. Cheese keeps as fresh as when I purchased it. I have even vacuum sealed whole chickens and large roasts and the marinade feather is a must in any kitchen. Overall this is a great sealer and a great investment.

Easy to use. But overheats when doing a lot of packaging. We buy meat once a month so when braking down and packaging a bulk buy you have to let the machine cool off. No other problems.

There are times when it doesn't take all the air out but I think we need to hold the package up a little as it is vacuuming. Love the cutter - nice addition! Our last one worked for probably more than 10 years, so I look forward to this one working as long!

Why did we wait and waste all that food and money? Should have gotten this years ago! We like to buy in bulk and cook enough for lots of left overs. I tried using the regular zipper bags with very limited success. After reading all of the user reviews, especially focusing on the "negatives", we bought the V3835. We've used it 10 times and it's VERY easy to use! Yes, there's what seems like waste in sealing. However, the store bought sealed packages have about the same amount of "waste", so, to me, that's acceptable. I figure our savings buying in bulk and buying on-sale items, coupled with no lost food due to freezer burn, will more than off-set the cost of the bags due to the "waste".
Bottom line: if you're shopping for a vacuum sealer, I highly recommend the FoodSaver brand AND the V3835.

I just finished processing 35 pounds of venison burger. The machine worked great. I was a little nervous about "operator error" but it went really well. I did notice that I had to let the machine cool off every so often. I think I may have overdone it with my new kitchen toy. I'm thinking of getting this for my brother-in-law and his wife. What a cool machine!

I have owned other Foodsaver sealers and this one is the best one yet. It is easy to use when you have the accessory attachments. Cleaning is must easier than others in the past.

This is a great product. I did not give it an excellent rating because I also seal my open potato chip bags and other such bags and they are very hard to get in the sealer. This unit is very sleek and pretty as well as very efficient. The unit is quiet and takes a minimal time to seal. It is great for sealing vegetables and meats that have fluids in them. It is also very easy to clean the unit.
